Course Description


This is a lecture course which is supposed introduce you to a brief survey of the History of Britain, its main events, tendencies, regularities, and the most important people.

During the course you will study the main periods, events, facts of British History; we will establish the correlation between the social and historical development of the country and the development of its culture; you will learn about the most important historical figures who contributed greatly to the development of the country; we will establish the connection between the modern state of the country and its history. We will use the Internet as one of the resources and in this way you will develop your skills of finding the information on the Internet, assessing its accuracy and using it while doing your tests, web-quests, preparing for your exam.


Course Requirements

To succeed in the course you are supposed to attend lectures, do your midterm and final tests, do a group web-quest, and take your exam.

Your web-quests are due!

Week 14. Great Britain in the 20th cent.

Week 15. Great Britain at the end of the 20th cent. And at the beginning of the 21st cent.

Week 16. Final test.


Assignments

Assignment # 1. Web-quests.

You will be divided into groups. Each group can choose any historical event, historical figure or a historical site from the list and do a web-quest about with role they played in the history of the country.

Assignment # 2. Tests.

During the course you will have to take a midterm and final test. These are multiple-choice and short-answer tests. The midterm test counts 20% and the final test counts 20 %of the total course grade.
